Opportunities for the Differently-Abled
Every project we embarked on was inspired by someone who truly demonstrated a compelling need to help. Through the project, we partner with organizations who work closely with the differently abled to provide opportunities that would be very vital to them to build their career. Suguna, a visually impaired woman, who had completed her B.A and B.Ed. was forced to sell peanut candies in a suburban station, since her aspiration to become a teacher did not materialize. Most of the schools rejected her application on the lines of disability. Maatram Foundation identified her and through our efforts, Suguna lives her dream as a teacher in Mahindra World School, one of the prestigious schools in Chennai. In our effort to support people with disabilities, we had helped Suguna help find employment and sustainable livelihood. Maatram Foundation is supporting the higher education of 2 visually-challenging kids at leading educational institutions. We are providing financial assistance for the school education of 2 kids of a physically challenged parent.
